| "Galois de Gaulle" premiered in October 2006 under the title of "The life of Evariste Galois". The play was written with the intention of telling people Galois' tragic story, in the hope that he would be awarded some of the respect he was never given. Galois imposed many of the difficulties he suffered on himself; his immaturity and overconfidence blighting him in the situations his life led him too. Hence, the play explores the difference between the intelligence and wisdom. | |||||

Given that the play is set just after the French Revolution, the historical context is pivotal. The scene is set through "player's scenes": The "Evariste Galois players" perform abridged histories using (amongst other things) pillows, wellies and baguettes. The defining events of Galois' short life are then grippingly portrayed with a sense of great intimacy.

There are many theories surrounding surrounding how Galois attained the single gunshot wound which killed him - most of them romanticised and involving a duel over the love of a girl, but these are massively debunked by almost all serious Galois historians. This play depicts a theory now widely accepted, yet even more tragic theory than the romatic version.
